Pre-conference Hands-On Workshop & Lecture, Friday September 29 8:00am - 6:30pmPlease join NYSANA and Twin Oaks Anesthesia for an 8-hour peripheral nerve block and ultrasound workshop. The workshop includes 4 hours of lecture and 4 hours of hands-on experience. Attendees will gain experience with upper extremity, lower extremity and truncal blocks as well as needle guidance and placement. This workshop & lecture is a conference add-on, open to all CRNA conference attendees for $799 ($699 early-bird discount through August 27, 2023). Space is limited and first-come, first-served. RRNAs wishing to participate, please contact your program director to volunteer as an ultrasound model. Due to the need for partial disrobing of models, male models only please. PRICINGRegistration includes CEs, Welcome Reception, Saturday meals and breaks, and breakfast and break on Sunday. Virtual option is available for those unable to make it in-person. AGENDAView the AgendaAbout our speakers Dr. Edwin ArokeDr. Aroke is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and a Nurse Scientist whose program of research focuses on racial pain disparities. Dr. Aroke has an interdisciplinary project that aims to identify the role of epigenomic and transcriptomic modifications in racial disparities in chronic low back pain.
Dr. Aroke is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), the International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG), and the U.S. Association for the Study of Pain (USASP). Dr. Aroke serves on the Evaluation and Research Advisory Committee of the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). His scholarship has resulted in several peer-reviewed articles, nationally and internationally presentations on pharmacogenomics, pain disparities, and anesthesia outcomes. Angela Mund2022-2023 President of the AANA, Dr. Mund is chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. Mund’s career in academia spans 18 years with roles at University of Minnesota as well as the Medical University of South Carolina. Providing the diverse and interrelated perspectives of a leader, educator, advocate, and clinician, she has testified before state legislative bodies as well as the U.S. House of Representatives on the important role CRNAs play in providing safe, quality anesthesia care. Honorably discharged as captain from the U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps, Mund was previously the executive director of the Association of Veterans Affairs Nurse Anesthetists as well as its president. An AANA member since 1996, Mund earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master of Science, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She received a certificate in nurse anesthesia from the Minneapolis Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia.
