What are the biggest challenges facing the profession?

The biggest challenge that CRNAs face is both the mental and physical fatigue from their job. Burnout is common, especially among most medical professionals. Another challenge we face as CRNAs is the large volume of advanced age and sick populations of patients that we care for who require enhanced monitoring and delicate care while under anesthesia.

What experiences, ideas, connection or resources do you have that would allow you to help with those challenges?

I carry with me all the unique experiences I have learned throughout my educational and clinical career thus far, and apply them to the clinical setting. In addition, remaining well-read with the most up-to-date evidence based practice research articles helps me provide the upmost care for my patients.

Name one skill or strength you possess that is unmatched by your colleagues or peers

With my energetic personality, enthusiasm for my profession and a thirst for learning and conquering new adventures and challenges, I feel I can offer many positive attributes to the work table. I thrive by participating in any opportunity that comes my way whether its a new challenge or experience that I can gain insight and knowledge from to utilize in the near future.

What do you love about being a CRNA? What drew you to the profession?

I love being a CRNA because everyday at work I have the amazing opportunity to meet new people and personalities, who happen to be at their worst time whether they are sick, scared or in pain, and comfort them while providing anesthesia care in order for their surgical procedure to cure their ailment or take their pain away. This self-rewarding feeling is what drew me to this profession, along with the autonomy, leadership and advanced knowledge I get to apply to my work each and every day.

Please provide at least one idea you believe will engage or involve members to advance NYSANA’s mission.

One way to engage more members to advance NYSANA’s mission is to organize more meet-and-greets throughout the year for CRNAs all over New York to meet and network, and share ideas and experiences they’ve had that can be essential towards new progress in legislation.
