Gastric Ultrasonography in the Era of GLP-1 Therapy: Barriers to Implementation in Anesthesia Practice
The purpose of this Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project is to identify barriers to the implementation of gastric ultrasonography among anesthesia providers managing patients receiving glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) therapy. Specifically, the project seeks to assess providers' knowledge, attitudes, competence, institutional support, and logistical constraints related to gastric ultrasound utilization in the perioperative setting, with the goal of identifying modifiable barriers that may inform future implementation strategies and protocol development.

Intraoperative Hypotension and CTZ Vulnerability: Expanding PONV Prevention Beyond Pharmacologic Prophylaxis
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) remains one of the most common complications following general anesthesia. Despite advances in pharmacologic prophylaxis and risk stratification tools, PONV continues to affect a substantial proportion of surgical patients. Emerging evidence suggests that physiologic factors, including intraoperative hypotension (IOH), may contribute to emetogenic activation through mechanisms involving cerebral perfusion and chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) vulnerability.
